The perspective that no longer exists

This video was created to participate in the "Short Life Short Films" international short film competition of 50 & More.

Unexpectedly, since I'm not a professional videomaker, he was included in the twelve finalists ( read the press release 50 & più Milano ).

A note on this music video that had a really curious and unpredictable gestation.

The unpredictable designs of the time
I composed and played all the instruments in this piece of music around 1976.

In the end you hear whistling. But it's still me in 2000 when I digitized the Revox tapes and I didn't realize I had left the computer microphone on.
I composed the text (it is the opening words of a novel of mine that is still being written) in 2019.
I visually represented music and text in February 2022 to participate in the "Corti di long vita" competition.

It took me 44 years, I hope it was worth it.

My short film "The perspective that no longer exists" was awarded the THIRD PRIZE at the "Corti di long vita" competition.

The Milan section of the 50 & Più association, organizer of the competition, wrote this.

Our partner Fausto Pasotti - excited and very happy - won a beautiful third place in the international short film competition of 50 & Più Associazione Abbracciami! with his "The perspective that no longer exists".
This is the motivation: "His work is an interior monologue of a sixty-year-old disillusioned with life that he feels getting out of hand. The text, recited by an American professional voice actor, is accompanied by iconographic images of the mood and feelings common to most part of the men and women who face the path of old age ".
“The finalist short films told the theme of the embrace declining it in many forms and using different visual languages. Often, avoiding the biggest risk: rhetoric - commented Pierfrancesco Diliberto, in art  #Pif  , as President of the jury - and added 50 & Più has among its merits that of having encouraged the production of short films ”.
“This year's competition was characterized by great creativity. The need for physical contact - declared the President of 50 & Più Carlo Sangalli - is evident in almost all the short films, demonstrating how much the years of social distancing have marked us; the importance of the intergenerational relationship also emerged and of undermining stereotypes linked to seniority, issues that 50 & Più has been supporting for some time ".

The motivation

“A biting and intelligent text for a sweet ending. A technically well crafted work, narrated through a voiceover and an exciting soundtrack: it does justice to those who live the third and fourth time of life, without resorting to banal stereotypes "

Corti di Lunga Vita at the Argentina Theater

Two years later, in fact, one of the most important events of 50 & Più is back in attendance. Many attended the event that took place on the afternoon of Wednesday 18 May, inside the Argentina Theater in Rome. In the audience, spectators, members, presidents of the 50 & Più provincials and journalists attended the show hosted by Pierfrancesco Diliberto, aka Pif, actor, director and president of the jury in this 4th edition.

“I dedicate this award to my grandmother Pina. I strongly believe in the relationship with grandparents, with the elderly in general, because they give so much to us young people who are the adults of tomorrow ". With these words Pierdomenico Minafra, author of the short film “ Myosotis (Μυοσωτίς) “, made together with Leonardo Piccinni, commented on the victory of the 4th edition of Corti di Lunga Vita, the international short film competition organized by the 50 & Più Association. The title chosen for this year is “Hug me!”, An expression that well embodies the need to meet again after a long period of pandemic and physical, as well as social distancing.

An exceptional jury

Over 80 authors, Italian and foreign, participated in the competition by submitting their work. Evaluating the semi-finalist short films was the task of a jury chaired by Pif and composed of Flavio De Bernardinis, film critic, Silvia Giulietti, independent film director and producer, Lidia Ravera, journalist and writer of numerous successes, and Marco Trabucchi, President of the Italian Association of Psychogeriatrics (AIP).

The winners of the 4th edition of Corti di Lunga Vita

On Wednesday evening the three winners were announced: in first place "Myosotis" by Minafra and Piccini, in second place  "A love story"  by Filippo Tamburini. Leading actress Rossella Gardini comments on the award: “It was very exciting to play this character. On the other hand, we actors are like sponges: we absorb sensations and then make them our own spontaneously ".

In third place " The perspective that no longer exists " by Fausto Felice Pasotti. “It is undoubtedly the most autobiographical I have ever written. It's how I am and how I felt when I wrote it three years ago. When I ask myself why I should design again, then I always find the answer ”said the director on the sidelines of the award ceremony.

To deserve two special mentions are the works " Vecchio " by Dino Lopardo, played by Leo Gullotta, and " Giovanni " by Marco Di Gerlando and Ludovica Gibelli. It was also a moment to discover the competitors for the 50 & Più Award, reserved for members and the 50 & Più provincial ones, which in this edition was won by “ A secular gesture ”, the work presented by 50 & Più Lecce.

Corti di Lunga Vita, an opportunity to meet the youngest

To do the honors, the National President of 50 & Più Carlo Sangalli who underlined the importance of the evening. “A memorable moment that must represent a great satisfaction. Memorable, not only for the wonderful location, but above all for the contents, with the presentation of shorts that are destined to have a long life by value. It is wonderful that these shorts also have the gaze of very young authors ”he commented.

And in reference to the members who participated in the competition, he then added: "Through these initiatives we encourage the active participation of our members: we are convinced that through beauty and artistic production we can convey the messages that are important to us and that want to unhinge stereotypes concerning the elderly ".

A message to remind you how the fil rouge of this edition has a lot to do with the problems linked to aging. As stated by the General Secretary of 50 & Più Gabriele Sampaolo: "This year's theme is" Hug me! " and collects moods we all experienced during the pandemic. But at the same time it goes even further because it is in line with the other editions. It is an invitation to mutual openness. This edition is located two years after the other, but we believe that it has resonated in the world of 50 & Più and that it can also resonate in the cultural path that the association proposes ".
